About the Database
HAM-TMC Library provides access to Chemical Abstracts Service's chemical databases through SciFinder Scholar. Chemical Abstracts is one of the world's largest and most up-to-date collections of chemical information, with nearly 16 million abstracts of journal articles, patents, and more. More information about the database.

Access to SciFinder Scholar in the Library
Currently you may access Chemical Abstracts Service's SciFinder Scholar via computers located in the HAM-TMC Library's HIEC Computer Lab (located on the Library's lower level). To use SciFinder on a HIEC Computer Lab computer, click the Start button, click Programs, and then click SciFinder Scholar 2000.

Remote Access to SciFinder Scholar
You may access SciFinder Scholar from computers outside the library if both of the following conditions are met:

1. You are using a computer with a Texas Medical Center Educational IP addresses. (Scifinder Scholar cannot be used via Remote Access.)

and

2. You download and install the SciFinder Scholar software.

If you have problems downloading the SciFinder Scholar software or accessing SciFinder, please contact hiec@library.tmc.edu.
