Descriptions: This is an online collection of more than 350 videos invaluable for studying counseling in the psychotherapy, psychology, psychiatric and social work settings. Footage of real and demonstration sessions, designed to illustrate issues and scenarios that commonly arise in the therapeutic setting, can be viewed in conjunction with their transcripts. Text is highlighted as it is spoken. Some units provide a theoretical context through narration or other structural elements. Additional videos feature consultations (specialists advising other therapists) lectures, interviews, teaching guides. Some can be viewed for CE credit. Using this collection, it is possible to compare the application in practice of various therapeutic theories to a single problem. Semantic indexing and multiple access approaches to the materials that are available, such as thumbnails, enhance the user's search and browse results. This collection received a database award from Library Journal as Best Niche Product for 2011.

Effective Health Care Program – AHRQ

Descriptions: First funded by Congress in 2005, the Effective Health Care Program funds and synthesizes the findings of teams of researchers and clinicians across North America, to identify ways to improve the quality of health care through evidence-based decision-making. Research summaries are available for consumers (many with Spanish translations), clinicians and policy-makers. Also for patients, short videos on treatment options, helpful comparative charts on the effectiveness of different treatments for various conditions. Many resources in various formats are provided. The Program invites comments and topic research/review suggestions, and data deposit by medical professionals. Links are provided to plug-ins for viewing video content.

Descriptions: LearningExpress Library is a suite of diverse resources for catching up on skills, exploring career options, or preparing for high school equivalency and college entrance exams. Sections that might be of interest include the Computer Skills Center where there are tutorials on various Microsoft Office programs, and the Adult Learning Center, which contains tutorials that aid in preparing one for US citizenship (Spanish version available) and aids to better writing and reading skills that may be of help to non-native speakers learning English. Free individual registration is required to access the course material.

Descriptions: A comprehensive point-of-care resource for nursing, Nursing Reference Center draws in part from Davis's Drug Guide for Nurses; AHFS Drug Information Essentials; Diseases and Disorders: a Nursing Therapeutics Manual; Taber's Cyclopedic Medical Dictionary; and Davis's Comprehensive Handbook of Laboratory & Diagnostic Tests with Nursing Implications. Nursing Reference Center includes "Quick Lessons" and "Evidence-based Care Sheets" on diseases and disorders; practice guidelines; patient education sheets, some available in Spanish; CE units; news; research instruments; and information on legal cases. Nursing Reference Center provides direct access to full text articles found in CINAHL.
