Descriptions: The Catalog of U.S. Government Publications (CGP) is the finding tool for electronic and print publications from all three branches of the federal government. It contains descriptive records for historical and current publications, and provides direct links to those available online.   All records generated since July 1976 are included, and the CGP is updated daily. Eventually the catalog will include records for publications dating back to the late 1800s, making it the central point for locating both new and historical Government publications. Until then, for publications issued before 1976, a printed Monthly Catalog of U. S. Government Publications, should be consulted. This publication, CGP's predecessor, is available at any Federal Depository Library. To locate the depository nearest you, use GPO's Locate Libraries service at: http://catalog.gpo.gov/fdlpdir/public.jsp .   The CGP provides Basic, Advanced, and Expert search options. Descriptions: CIRRIE provides two main resources: Database of International Rehabilitation Research, and International Encyclopedia of Rehabilitation. The Database contains over 100,000 citations of international rehabilitation research published between 1990 and the present and includes citations drawn from about 4,700 journals. Searches can be conducted in Spanish and French as well as English. Search by title, author, subject or journal. Quick Search mode also provides a direct link to the comparable U.S. database, REHABDATA. Search results include links to free full text where available. EMBASE indexes more than 2,700 journals not covered by PubMed/Medline and includes about 300,000 conference abstracts annually from 2009 to the present. EMBASE combines its own ontology, EMTREE, with that of Medline, so that more of the relevant search results are retrieved in a search. Descriptions: GoPubMed is an innovative, powerful search tool that combines the MeSH (Medical Subject Headings) and GO (Gene Ontology) terminologies to optimize the effectiveness of queries to PubMed- for everyone, but for molecular biologists in particular. Searching elicits results presented very quickly (maximum display: the most recent 1,000 citations), along with a sidebar presenting the full results in categorized, hierarchical groups of terms that help the user to focus in further- the producers of this search engine refer to it as a "knowledge-based semantic search." There is a fairly extensive list of free videos on (for the most part) health topics that pertain to aging in some way, or to diseases. Descriptions: The NCBI Structure Group, a part of the Computational Biology Branch of NCBI, developed this suite of four free molecular and protein databases, each of which is itself made up of several others, and all of which can be searched individually. Macromolecular Structures, Conserved Domains, Small Molecules, and Biological Systems are the four main resources here- tools designed to facilitate discovery of sequence, function and structure associations. The tab labeled "Discover" does a good job of explaining how to use the Structure databases and how to access various facets of information on a molecule or protein from any point in NCBI's many resources.
