Until then, for publications issued before 1976, a printed Monthly Catalog of U. S. Government Publications, should be consulted. This publication, CGP's predecessor, is available at any Federal Depository Library. To locate the depository nearest you, use GPO's Locate Libraries service at: http://catalog.gpo.gov/fdlpdir/public.jsp .   The CGP provides Basic, Advanced, and Expert search options. Searches can be narrowed to specific collections or formats, such as maps, Congressional, or Internet publications. Search results or selected records can be e-mailed.

In recent years, there have been serious challenges to this view, and some alternative systems of journal evaluation have been introduced that have aimed to correct the problem of bias in the data on which this still very influential analysis system for journals was founded. Annual editions of JCR from 2000 to approximately the most recently-previous year are accessible online. Journal Citation Reports rates journals on the basis of: most frequently-citedby discipline; highest-impact in a field; and largest in a field.
