Dr. Harold K. Doerr brings a unique background to medicine and the space industry. From Baylor College of Medicine, this medical doctor and teacher with technical insight shares his skills and experiences with The Medical Center, NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas, and other organizations around the country.

Dr. Doerr completed his undergraduate education in 1979 at Rutgers University, Newark, New Jersey, with a Bachelor of Arts. He received his MD from the University of Texas Health Science Center in 1987. After adding Cardiac Anesthesiology and Cardiology Ultrasound fellowships, he served as the Director of Intraoperative Ultrasound at The Methodist Hospital. Dr. Doerr and Acuson, an ultrasound manufacturer, joined to develop educational training for ultrasound students. His faculty experience includes Cardiovascular Anesthesiology in Transesophageal Echocardiography. In 1998, Dr. Doerr began teaching on the human patient simulator. He lectured extensively at medical schools, conferences, and hospital organizations on the subject. He helped develop program curriculum, patient models, and scenarios for METI. He continues to assist METI in training the trainers. He developed a wide variety of curriculum to accommodate the diverse group of students at the HCAPS, which includes requirements for medical residents, faculty, nurses, paramedics, DOD, astronauts, and flight medical groups. He is currently developing curriculum for medical students in Crisis Resource Management. Dr. Doerr is credited with forming the National Performance Data Center. This is a joint affiliation with Rice University, Department of Psychology to measure the performance of participants in Human Patient Simulator training. His most recent achievement includes the study of space medicine for NASA and his participation in the Space Medicine Work Group. Their goal is to reformulate medical equipment and procedures for extended duration space flight. Through his Internet journals, "Medical Simulation" and "Journal of Space Medicine", Dr. Doerr continues to share his skills and experiences through new venues.
