Dr.
Gregoric earned his medical degree from the University of Ljubljana
in 1979. After several years of training and practice in his native
Slovenia, Dr. Gregoric completed a fellowship in Cardiovascular and
Thoracic Surgery at the Texas Heart Institute (1984-1992), a residency
in General Surgery at the University of Texas-Houston Health Science
Center Medical School (1992-1996), and a residency in Cardiovascular
and Thoracic Surgery at the Texas Heart Institute (1996-1998). In both
1988-1989 and 1990-1991 he was honored with an Ethicon Inc. Vascular
Fellowship. Dr. Gregoric is currently Associate Chief of Cardiopulmonary
Transplantation as well as Director, Mechanical Circulatory Support
at St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital, Houston, Texas He also holds an appointment
as Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery, Department of Cardiothoracic
and Vascular Surgery, University of Texas-Houston Health Science Center
Medical School.
Dr. Gregoric
has conducted research in the areas of capillary microscopy clinical
investigations and hypothermic spinal cord protection. A few of his
areas of interest include
Jarvik assist devices (LVAD), robotics in cardiac surgery, and the total
artificial heart.
