Journal Cancellation News

The HAM-TMC Library has sustained a materials budget decrease for print journals in excess of $250,000.00.  Some of these print titles also include electronic access and this access will also be lost in most cases.

The 2004 Journal Cancellation List has been analyzed carefully. We realize the cancellation of some titles on this list will have an impact on your research and teaching activities. For this reason, we want you to have an opportunity to review the list and determine if there are any titles which are critical and must be retained. A web response form will be available shortly at the HAM-TMC Library website. You will be alerted when this form is ready.

Most libraries across the country are facing the same difficult cancellation decisions we are. Your input will be very useful in helping us make decisions that will reduce the impact on your educational and research needs.

Letrozole---Good News for Breast Cancer Survivors

On October 9, 2003, The National Cancer Institute issued the following clinical alert: New Treatment Significantly Improves Long-Term Outlook For Breast Cancer Survivors: International clinical trial concludes women should consider taking letrozole after five years of tamoxifen treatment to continue to reduce risk of recurrence. The complete study is available at:

E- Highlight - Health Source:  Nursing/Academic Database – alternative to CINAHL

The HAM-TMC Library subscribes to several medical databases that index literature in the nursing and allied health fields.   One quality database that may often be overlooked is Health Source:  Nursing/Academic offered by EBSCO Information Services.

This resource provides indexing and access to the full-text for nearly 600 journals with coverage of nursing and allied health being particularly strong. In addition, this database includes the Clinical Pharmacology database, providing access to up-to-date, concise and clinically relevant drug monographs for all U.S. prescription drugs, hard-to-find herbal and nutritional supplements, over-the-counter products and new drugs.

To access this database from the HAM-TMC Library web page www.library.tmc.edu  choose Electronic Resources, click on the Database radio button and then choose the letter “H” from the menu.
