Library Project Funded to Promote Community-Based Health Information Outreach
The Houston Academy of Medicine-Texas Medical Center Library will partner collaboratively with Family to Family Network and the School of Library and Information Studies at Texas Woman's University to implement a project improving access to health information and eliminating disparities among underserved and under-represented populations. The proposed work, F2F Connection,will build on health information needs already identified during the planning phase. The project will further examine the health information needs of Texas families having children with disabilities/chronic illnesses and enable families to get appropriate information. read more

New Journals and Content Added to PubMed Central®
PubMed Central (PMC) is a digital archive of unrestricted access to full-text life sciences journal literature, developed and managed by the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) at the U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM). read more

Stat!Ref Adds ACP PIER
Stat!Ref, a clinical information resource that provides full text access to key medical reference textbooks has added PIER, the American College of Physicians evidence based – point of care tool. read more

Coin Photocopies: $0.25 per page, up from $0.20 per page

Copycard Printouts and Photocopies: $0.20 per page, up from $0.15 per page
Effective September 7th, 2004, the following service fees will increase as follows:

Photocopy service cardholder: $9 up from $8 (paper & electronic delivery)

Interlibrary Loan (local library network) $5 up from $4

Interlibrary Loan (non-local library network) $15 up from $14
