We are excited to announce our new Google-like single search tool that will be implemented on Wednesday, August 27 (demo below). As always, we are available for one-on-one questions and group instruction. Please contact us via e-mail, chat, text or phone at: http://askus.library.tmc.edu/
Visitors to the Library are welcome to browse through the Library’s resources when coming to the Library. However, to access databases and electronic journals subscriptions requires a separate Resource Access username and password available at the Circulation Desk. For those already registered, your current user name and password will work on Library computers. If you wish to borrow materials, a TMC Library card, or a card from any of the Texas Health Science Library Consortium member libraries is necessary.
- Complete the Online Library Card Registration
- or, download, fill out, and send us this Library Card Registration Form (PDF)
We offer different types of cards:
- Full-Member Cards
- TexShare Cards
Full member cards are available to the governing and supporting institutions of the TMC Library and to the Harris County Medical Society. These cards are the first step to access or to borrow resources within the Library. However, full member cards do not automatically guarantee remote access to the entire eBook and journal subscriptions the Library has with the publishers. When applying for a library card, please check your level of access to resources that your status permits.
Other organizations and individuals that wish to have borrowing and other membership privileges at The TMC Library can do so through the Library Access Fee program.
Health care providers who are not cardholders can receive some privileges through the Regional Medical Library, a regional office of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine. Please call the Circulation Desk 713.799.7147 for more information.
TexShare is a cooperative program designed to improve library service to Texans. Members include public and academic libraries as well as academic medical libraries. TexShare enables libraries to offer a broader range of materials and services than any single library can offer its clients. The TexShare Library Card Program is a significant step towards a statewide library card system. For more information, inquire at the Circulation Desk, 713.799.7147.
