Descriptions: From the National Cancer Institute, the Genomic Data Commons, or GDC, is a new, open-access cancer database, launched containing the raw genomic and clinical data of approximately 12,800 patients. Researchers are encouraged to submit their own data to the resource, which contains information on treatments used and the response to those treatments. The goal is to accelerate research by sharing a large pool of re-analyzable data. (Some data is protected.) Descriptions: The PDQ (Physician Data Query) database contains peer-reviewed summaries on cancer treatment, screening, prevention, genetics, supportive care, and complementary and alternative medicine; a registry of thousands of open clinical trials from around the world; and directories of physicians, genetic counseling professionals, and organizations that provide cancer care. Also included are a dictionary of cancer terms, statistics on survival, and a drug dictionary.
