Descriptions: The Joanna Briggs Institute is an international, not-for-profit research and development organization specializing in evidence-based resources for nursing, midwifery, medicine, and allied health professionals. JBI offers resources designed for service providers, health professionals and consumers by connecting the best available international evidence to the point of care. The TMC Library does not have a subscription, but some resources here are open access. JBI is an initiative and operational unit of Royal Adelaide Hospital and the University of Adelaide.

Descriptions: Established in 1951, the independent, non-profit Joint Commission provides accreditation and certification services for health care facilities-- hospitals, nursing homes, laboratories, home health care providers, etc. and in diverse specialties ranging from critical care to behavioral health. The JCAHO "...seeks to continuously improve health care for the public, in collaboration with other stakeholders, by evaluating health care organizations and inspiring them to excel in providing safe and effective care of the highest quality and value." To that end, it produces standards, goals, certifications, awards, quality reports and consumer resources. Standards address levels of performance in areas such as patient rights, patient treatment, medication safety and infection control. JCAHO publishes reviews, white papers, reports including an Annual Report, National Patient Safety Goals, its Journal on Quality and Patient Safety, and numerous newsletters, some of which are freely accessible here.
