This organization was an outgrowth of the biennial symposium series, \u201cMinorities, the Medically Underserved &amp; Cancer,\u201d led by Dr. Lovell A. Jones. Dr. Armin Weinberg from Baylor College of Medicine partnered with Dr. Jones to spearhead the Intercultural Cancer Council to collaboratively unite driven individuals from around the nation in combating health disparities in cancer care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Intercultural Cancer Council values its history, accomplishments, and the people who made it happen. The collection consists of six boxes of physical materials and 4.2 GB of digital files with potential for growth. Existing materials are searchable online to the folder-level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Contributing to the Collection<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Currently, the collection represents only a fraction of ICC\u2019s prolific history. Many of the records produced by the organization over the years have long-term value. The archive prioritizes records that best illustrate the purpose, activities, and policies of the ICC and seeks documents created by officers, members, directors, employees, and volunteers in pursuit of the ICC\u2019s mission. For instance, remove records from your filing cabinet, keeping files in order. If you used binders to organize your records, submit the binders as is. When we process the collection, we will remove the content in the order maintained in the binder. Binders will be discarded.<\/li><\/ol><ol><li>Ideally, place records in standard document boxes (12\u2033 w x 15\u2033 l x 10\u2033 h). Contact the Archives staff if you have:<ol><li>odd-sized items that do not fit in document boxes<\/li><\/ol><ol><li>any born-digital items (floppy disks, hard drives, or other computer equipment that contain related records)<\/li><\/ol><\/li><\/ol><ol><li>Try to fill boxes. If more than one record group is in a box, separate each group with a labeled sheet of paper.<\/li><\/ol><ol><li>No hanging files. If you must submit hanging files, please do not hook hanging files on the box edges.\u00a0 This keeps lids from fitting on boxes.<\/li><\/ol>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If sending confidential or restricted records, please indicate \u201cRestricted\u201d clearly on the box label.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Label the boxes<ol><li>Use the attached label template to label each box. The template provides two labels per page, so you can print several of these forms and complete them as you pack boxes.<\/li><\/ol><ol><li>Please complete the portion below the double-line.<\/li><\/ol><ol><li>Place a label in each box on top of contents.<\/li><\/ol>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Provide the following information indicated on the label:<ol><li>Box #: Number boxes (1-99999) as you pack them, maintaining original order.<\/li><\/ol><ol><li>Date Range: If indicated on the folders, provide the years in which the files are dated. If dates are not readily available, provide an estimated date range.<\/li><\/ol>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Description: Provide a brief description of the contents, indicated on the folders) in the box. For example, you can note various folder labels found within the box. This will provide general and immediate access to the records before a more detailed inventory is created.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide brief list of contents (optional)\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Provide a general inventory of the submission that includes the number of boxes and their content. You can use the provided spreadsheet template (<a href=\"https:\/\/archiveslibrarytmcedu-001a.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com\/IC107\/IC107-Submission-inventory_yyyymmdd.xlsx\">IC107-Submission-inventory_yyyymmdd.xlsx<\/a>) to complete the inventory.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Deliver the materials<ol><li>If local, contact Archives staff to schedule a date and time to bring the materials to the Archives.<\/li><\/ol><ol><li>Notify Archives staff that materials have been shipped. Provide estimated delivery date and tracking information.
