Consult with a Librarian

Students needing help with research projects, can make an appointment with a librarian, one-on-one or in a small group, to learn how to use the TMC Library resources. Consultation services are available to members of Library affiliated TMC institutions.

Interlibrary Loan

Students can borrow materials (books, journal articles) that the TMC Library doesn’t own using Interlibrary Loan services. Students will need to create an account to submit, track, and receive document following this link.

A single user is entitled to a maximum of 15 free requests per calendar year. Further ILL requests will be filled at $15.00 each until year’s end. Duplicate and/or lost requests will be ordered at the expense of the patron.

Access to the library’s electronic resources

Students affiliated with University of Texas Health Science Center, Baylor College of Medicine, or University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, have access to the library’s electronic resources on-site and remotely via Open Athens by signing with their institutional credentials.

Students affiliated with Houston Community College, Prairie View A&M University College of Nursing and Texas Southern University, are required to get approval for library cards from their institutions before registering for an Open Athens account.

Tutorials

Liaison Librarians have developed a series of tutorials on basic and advanced PubMed searching, how to deduplicate citations using RefWorks, developing a PICO question or how to log in to Open Athens.

Research Guides

Research Guides are online web pages created by the TMC Library Liaison Librarians to help students choose the best library resources to do their research. The TMC Library has developed 36 Research Guides on different subjects like nursing, how to access the library resources remotely, evidence-based practice, RefWorks, systematic reviews or tracking your publications.
