This TECA Model M. electromyograph survived long enough to make it to McGovern Collections. The device is part of the Martha Pugh, M.D., papers, which are now being processed. Dr. Pugh was a resident at the Baylor College of Medicine in the late 1960s. She was a member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
Outdated machines are called legacy equipment, which means they have out lived their usefulness. However, these legacy machines provide a window into the past and give researchers an idea of the level of technology available to the medical community at the time they were used. The age of this device is unknown. Unfortunately it is badly corroded, probably from being exposed to high humidity.
