Happy Archives Month to everyone. October is a month to reflect and give back to all the history makers out there. That’s you! Here are a few ways that we’re celebrating this year:
- Give2History: Secure the Past takes place throughout October. It helps raise funds for archival projects that preserve collection materials at the McGovern Historical Center.
- Adopt a Box takes place throughout October as well, and it is a fun program within the Give2History fundraising campaign. All tax-deductible gifts of $50 or more will get your name permanently inscribed on an actual collection box in the archives.
- Ask an Archivist Booth will be in the TMC Library on Tuesday, October 14, 10am-2pm. Archivist from the McGovern Historical Center will be on hand to answer all the questions you have about archives, archivists, and the amazing archival collections we have in the Texas Medical Center.
- Rare Book Room Open House is scheduled on Tuesday, October 14, 11am-1pm. As a special treat we offer you a tour of the Rare Book Room featuring notable volumes in the collection.
- #AskAnArchivist Day is on Thursday, October 16. After speaking with us in-person at the Ask an Archivist Booth, go to your nearest social media platform and talk with archivists around the country. Follow #AskAnArchivist
