Individuals and foundations support our efforts to document and preserve the contributions of healthcare providers, faculty, researchers and administrators of the Texas Medical Center and world health. Our supporters help us to continue to develop world class rare book collections in medical specialties, arthritis, rheumatology, public health, psychiatry and mental healthcare. Our archive collects papers from individuals and records from institutions that document the history of TMC, the Houston region, Texas and resources related to radiation and the Atomic Bomb Casualty Commission.
Financial support is crucial for our collections and services; it enables us to preserve and thoroughly catalog the materials we collect, making them accessible to users, and helps us better meet the needs of researchers. Although such gifts are never a requirement for the acceptance of a collection, donors who are able to assist the library by making contributions toward the cataloging and conservation of their papers would be providing much needed assistance and are encouraged to do so.

Financial Support to the McGovern Endowment
The Board of Directors of the TMC Library started the McGovern Endowment for the History of Medicine in 1996. The income from this fund makes it possible for the rare book and manuscript collections to be properly preserved and maintained. Donations for special projects or purchases are also welcome.
Houston and Texas History
Donate medical and nursing school yearbooks, directories for Houston and Texas, collections of personal papers, copies of speeches, newsletters from hospitals and schools, records from organizations, photographs, videos, annual reports, publicity brochures all these and more. Anything that documents a part of our healthcare history: anything that tells a part of the story of how our hospitals, schools and medical community developed is needed for our historical collections.
Rare Book Collections
Books that document the beginnings of the medical specialties in the late 19th century and through first half of the 20th century are of special interest to the McGovern Center. In addition to the focus on the medical specialties, the McGovern Center has collections on the life of William Osler, the history of rheumatology, North American public health, biographies of Texas physicians and the history of psychiatry & mental healthcare. Donations in any of those areas are especially welcome.
Archival Collections
Donate papers, letters, administrative documents, financial records, photographs, newsletters, directories, brochures, scientific publications, research documents, instruments and medical equipment to help document the institutions and people who contributed to the medical history of the TMC, Texas and the world.
