PubMed use at the TMC Library — over 300,000 article downloads in last 12 months


PubMed is known as a critical repository for healthcare and other professionals seeking medical research articles.

Ever wondered how much our TMC Library users rely on PubMed for article discovery and access?

In the last 12 months, our users downloaded 303,882 articles from PubMed, via our library’s PubMed account.

The ten most popular journals, from Nov. 1, 2022 – Oct. 8, 2023, were:


To gain full text access to articles in PubMed, use the TMC Library PubMed icon on our homepage:


Enter your search terms, and choose an article abstract that meets your interest.

At the Abstract page in Pubmed, click the “TMC Library Get Full Text” icon:

If the Library subscribes to the journal, you will get a  “Download PDF” icon on a page like this:

Log into OpenAthens when prompted, and you should then be directed to the PDF.

For more access options in PubMed:

If you have enabled the LibKey Nomad extension in your browser:

…in your PubMed results list, you will see “Download PDF” or other access options:

If an article has “Access Options”,  it’s because we don’t subscribe to the journal.  But if  you see it says:  “Free article”:

Then go to the PubMed Abstract page by clicking the hyperlinked title:

And click on the Publisher icon to get the Free full text article:

If the Publisher site still does not provide the Free full text article, please use InterLibrary Loan.
