  6. Alice Sherwood delivered a presentation of How to Showcase and Preserve the History of a Medical Library using The TMC Library’s Digital Commons Exhibits at the Medical Institutional Repositories in Libraries Symposium 2023 (MIRL23).
  7. Chad Metz was invited to present at the Ex Libris Southcentral Group (ELSUG) virtual conference, on November 3, 2023. With MDA colleague, Valerie Felan, Chad presented: Sowing the Seeds for Success, in which he shared best practices for early career librarians learning the ALMA/Primo system as part of their new role in librarianship. Attendees gained tips for success as early career librarians.

  1. Jasmin Legaspi completed the American Library Association’s six-week course, Fundamentals of Cataloging in June 2022. This course focused on AACR2 and RDA cataloging rules, and subject analysis using Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH) and other classification systems.

Major Library Projects

  1. Alice Sherwood was interviewed by Elizabeth Kaesmann, Marketing Manager, Academic Information Systems of Elsevier on October 8th, 2023, discussing about the journey of The TMC Library implementing Digital Commons Exhibits. The interview is featured on Elsevier’s Digital Commons Product page.
  2. In fiscal year 2023, Resource Management Associate, Jasmin Legaspi, updated 7,900 Docline holdings for accuracy.  She also deleted approximately 1,200 titles from Ebsco databases that are no longer offered by the Texas State Library and Archives Commission.   Publisher coverage dates and content offerings can change over time, so Jasmin diligently manages our Docline holdings as a regular project and on an as-needed basis.

  9. Emma Silva and Travis Holder started a project to assign NLM’s MeSH terms to the most popular biomedical informatics concepts for UTHealth School of Biomedical Informatics. (February 2020-present)
