Library Access Membership Program

Registering for Library Card and Access

Registering for access to Library Resources is a two-step process.

Step1:

Completing the Online Library Card Registration

After registering, you will receive a communications from our Circulation department with your registration number.

Step2:

  • BCM, UTHealth, and MD Anderson users may immediately use institutional login credentials to login to Library resources. (Learn more about logging in with Open Athens.)
  • Prairie View A&M – College of Nursing, Texas Southern University, College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences, and HCC-Coleman College users should now register for REMOTE Access accounts.

If you are affiliated with more than one TMC institution, please register using your academic credentials (.edu email address) to gain full access to all e-resources.

If you wish to access Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery Services, you must register for ILLiad.

Full use of some databases may also require you to set up an additional log-in specific to that database. (See the descriptions in the Databases list for information). If you have a problem with set up or need help, please ask us.

When registering with the TMC Library, please be aware that it does not automatically entitle you to full remote or onsite access to all e-resources or print material. Please review carefully the following Library Access Fee Structure for your Institutional Classification to see what library privileges and access rights apply.

Library Access Fee Structure

There are several classifications of users of TMC Library Resources who are eligible for a Library Registration Card.

Unlike public libraries, being a registered user of the library does not automatically entitle you to full access of resources. The TMC Library operates within the constraints of contractual agreements imposed upon us by publishers. In addition, the TMC Library operates under a consortia governing agreement of the major educational institutions of the TMC to which the Library must abide.

To address the issues of accessibility, the TMC Library has reviewed its fee structure to help clarify what resources and services are available under each classification of library users.

Definitions:

  1. Remote Access: Ability to log into library online and access full information resources from an offsite location.
  2. Library Onsite: Ability to connect online to access full electronic information resources but only when physically ONSITE at the library.
  3. Circulation Privileges: Ability to physically check out print publications.
  4. Inter-Library Loan (ILL): A cooperative service among libraries that provides eligible TMC affiliates access to books and copies of articles not owned by the TMC Library.
  5. Library Card: Ability to electronically access Inter-Library Loan request webpage and complete online form.
