Registering for Library Card and Access

Texas Medical Center

Registering for access to Library Resources is a two-step process.

Register for access to electronic and print resources by either:

Completing the Online Library Card Registration OR
Downloading and completing the
Library Card Registration Form (PDF)

After registering, you will receive a communications from our Circulation department with your registration number.

NOTE: If you wish to register with ILL/DDS for access to Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery Services, a separate LOG IN to the ILLiad Request System is required.

Full use of some databases may also require you to set up an additional log-in specific to that database. (See the descriptions in the Databases list for information). If you have a problem with set up or need help, contact us at 713.799.7147.

IF you are affiliated with more than one TMC institution, please register using your academic credentials (.edu email address) to gain full access to all e-resources.

When registering with the TMC Library, please be aware that it does not automatically entitle you to full remote or onsite access to all e-resources or print material. Please review carefully the Library Access Fee program. for your Institutional Classification to see what library privileges and access rights apply.

There are several classifications of users of TMC Library Resources who are eligible for a Library Registration Card.

Unlike public libraries, being a registered user of the library does not automatically entitle you to full access of resources. The TMC Library operates within the constraints of contractual agreements imposed upon us by publishers. In addition, the TMC Library operates under a consortia governing agreement of the major educational institutions of the TMC to which the Library must abide.

To address the issues of accessibility, the TMC Library has reviewed its fee structure to help clarify what resources and services are available under each classification of library users. (See Library Access Fee program.)
