Descriptions: The Society for Neuroscience offers the expected features, many of them open to non-members: meeting abstracts dating back to 2000; its latest Annual Report; information on its policies and guidelines; and Neuroscience in the News. There are unexpected free treasures in the section, History of Neuroscience: a selection of full-text classic neuroscience articles; six volumes of "The History of Neuroscience in Autobiography;" and a large series of Quicktime videos of autobiographical/scientific talks and interviews from eminent neuroscientists made between 1994 and 2008. Also notable is the inclusion of useful resources for non-scientists and educators: the NERVE "Virtual Encycloportal" for K-12 students and their teachers; and consumer information, like "Brain Facts: A Primer on the Brain and Nervous System," and a series of Flash videos, "Searching for Answers," on various brain diseases and disorders.

Descriptions: "NIA, one of the 27 Institutes and Centers of NIH, leads a broad scientific effort to understand the nature of aging and to extend the healthy, active years of life. Subsequent amendments to this legislation designated the NIA as the primary Federal agency on Alzheimer’s disease research." Descriptions: From the website: The Mental Health Information Network (MHIN) of Metro Boston is a three year NLM Information Systems Grant funded by the National Library of Medicine (NLM). The Boston University Medical Center (BUMC), Alumni Medical Library, in collaboration with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Department of Mental Health (DMH), Metro Boston Area is providing an integrative information resource, as well as training, service, and access to consumers and staff of Metro Boston Area Centers, treatment centers, service providers, consumer advocacy groups, club houses and other affiliated organizations. MHIN is facilitating access to information on mental illness/health and physical illness/health through the development of the MHIN website which will provide a comprehensive access point for quality-filtered information and links, as well as content information and materials provided by DMH and other mental health information providers. The site will serve as a mental health information resource for consumers and staff in the Metro Boston area, as well as regionally, and nationally.
