Newly acquired! A collection of papers from Phillip D. Robinson, MHA, LFACHE have recently been acquired—and processed—by the McGovern Historical Center. A finding aid is available at archives.library.tmc.edu/ms-233 and the papers are available for research.

Phillip D. Robinson, MHA, LFACHE was a Senior Vice President at Houston Methodist and held many leadership roles in healthcare administration before retiring as President of Lankenau Medical Center in Philadelphia in 2022. During his time at Methodist, he traveled with Dr. Armin Weinberg to Russia and Ukraine to explore cooperation with organizations studying the health effects of exposure to low-dose radiation.

The archival materials currently available at the McGovern Historical Center focus on that trip to Russia and Ukraine and corresponding professional relationships. The collection includes, for example, agreements or proposals for cooperation between various organizations interested in the study and treatment of individuals exposed to low doses of radiation. In addition, there are also photographs of the trip and correspondence leading up to and following it.

The papers include materials pertaining to the International Consortium for Research on the Health Effect of Radiation (ICRHER); the Ukrainian Research Center for Radiation Medicine; the International Consortium for Research of Radiation Induced Injury; Houston Methodist; the Institute of Experimental Radiology (Kiev, Ukraine); and the Ukrainian Research Center for Radiation Medicine.

These papers form part of the MHC’s Radiation Effects and Events Collections. Future accruals are expected to further document Robinson’s career.
